Never underestimate the powers of a positive mindset.
When I was a kid, when I first I heard the saying, “Smile. It makes people wonder what you’ve been up to” I had to have one of my parents explain it to me.
After I understood it, I adopted it and had it on my dresser for a while where I read it often.
Thoughts are powerful. How you think affects your general attitude. Your attitude is reflected in your appearance too. Listen to your thoughts. Are they positive or negative. Do you think others know what is on your mind?
Or are you a great actor?
They may not know exactly what you are thinking, but they can probably get an idea of how you are feeling. How you are feeling doesn’t end with you. Your attitude can also affect those you interact with.
Positive thoughts and positive people fill us up. A positive mindset is invigorating. This energy spills over to the people around the person carrying positive thoughts.
Negative thoughts, on the other hand, have the ability to zap energy. They make you look and feel gloomy and sad. People tend to shy away from those who carry a negative attitude. Carrying a negative attitude has a twofold drawback. You feel bad and you make others feel bad.
Put simply, a positive mindset attracts, while negative thoughts repel.
You know what? Your mindset depends on you. It can be either positive or negative. It is up to you to choose!
How we look at the world can shape our attitude. Focus on the negative in the world, and you’ll have a negative mindset brewing and begin ruminating. However, if you choose to focus on the positive aspects of life, you are more likely carry a positive mindset.
You have more to gain than simply affecting those around you. For instance, studies have shown that a positive mindset promotes better health. Those with positive thoughts create strong relationships to lean on during difficult times. Projecting a positive attitude also helps one to handle stress and problem solve.
A positive attitude begins with a healthy self-image. If you are satisfied with who you are you will be confident and self-assured, making others around you feel the same way. What are the things you are good at? What do you do that makes you happy? How can you serve others with your strengths?
Recognizing what we have to be grateful for also helps us to have a positive attitude. If you want to have a positive attitude, you have to feature healthy thoughts in your head. This is sometimes very hard to do nowadays since, all around us, we are pushed to always want more.
Less can be more. What do you have to be grateful for? Many people find that a gratitude journal helps them focus on the positives in their life.
Another way to help develop an attitude of gratefulness is to volunteer or mentor others. Helping others helps us to feel good about our strengths and our abilities to make a difference.
If you want a healthier outlook in life, you need to think happy thoughts, and you have to hear positive things as well. Positive affirmations and mantras are helpful to many people. Put positive words or pictures in your life to help cue your brain to focus on good thoughts.
What else can you do?
Well, for starters, don’t load up on garbage. Pay attention to the feed that you are allowing in from social media, the news, and violent or twisted movies.
… Instead, you could see a funny movie, play with the children in your life, spend some time telling jokes, playing cards, or working a puzzle with friends and family. Build a course. Design a digital product. Start that podcast!
All these activities can be positive stimuli, which in turn promotes positive thoughts. Create that future for yourself that you’ve always wanted.
It is impossible to keep ourselves from negative things in the world. Being positive does not mean we pretend everything is roses and unicorns when problems are occurring. This is when the positive mindset we have cultivated becomes even more of a benefit.
It is in the difficult times that a positive mindset helps keep us afloat. It is what helps us to have hope. Hope is what keeps us from dwelling on the negative for an unhealthy amount of time.
There is a time to mourn our losses and difficulties. There is a time to move forward.
With a positive mindset, even if you have troubles, even in your darkest hour, you will always have hope.
Hope makes a problem something that can be overcome.
There is nothing to lose in adopting a healthy, positive mindset. Studies show that positivity can make you healthier by developing better stress coping abilities and it has a positive effect on all the people you meet every day.
They say when you smile the whole world smiles with you. Not only that, they’ll wonder what you’ve been up to too!
One day, we’ll look back at this time and reflect on how we pulled through. I know you’ll build something amazing. Let’s do it together.
