It is Day 8 of the 10 Day Global Jumpstart and the question I have heard the most so far is, “What are the best foods to boost your immune system?”
We always want that one thing that will fix us. The answer is more than just one thing. There are lots of foods that support our immune system. Thats why one of the best ways to boost your immune system is to eat the rainbow!
An huge variety of compounds are found in the pigments that give fruits and veggies their beautiful colors.
These protective compounds help to shield us from disease. What we eat affects whether we develop chronic disease and whether we have chronic disease affects how well we fight off disease.
Red helps improve heart health, blood health, and helps joint function.
Green builds healthy cells, fights free radicals, helps the immune system, detoxifies, and destroys cancer cells
Orange supports the immune system, full of antioxidants, inhibits tumor growth, detoxifies, prevents cancer, and promotes collagen growth
Purple contains antioxidants and helps with mineral absorption.
White reduces cancer risks by reducing cell division, activates our immune system’s natural killer cells.
Yellow helps your heart, vision, digestion, and helps immune system detoxify harmful substances
Blue has antioxidant power destroys free radicals reducing oxidative stress.
Start with the food. Keep it simple. Eat more plants. Eat lots of different ones by eating a rainbow of color.
Plants have fiber, water, and nutrients that promote healing in our bodies. Our blood becomes less thick so it flows easier and moves more oxygen into tissues. Oxygen helps keep our immune system up to the task of defending our body. You’ll be able to tell a difference in how you feel the more plants you eat.
Once you feel the difference eating more color makes, you will begin to feel more confident and clear about what food you want to eat and why.
