Sometimes when I say I am a lifestyle medicine coach people need a little more explanation. What is lifestyle medicine anyways?
Using lifestyle as medicine is using nutrition, fitness, stress management, relaxation, and relationships to build health. Conversely, it is the avoidance of unhealthy habits including sedentary life, processed foods high in salt, fat, & sugar, high stress levels, and isolation. It is also limiting drugs and alcohol.
Many disease processes have lifestyle choices at their root. When we create healthy habits in our life we create healthy bodies, and according to research, wipe out nearly 80% of our risk for chronic disease. In addition, making healthy lifestyle choices allows our bodies to treat any chronic diseases that may already be in progress, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and more.
Nutrition is medicine.
Exercise is medicine.
Love is medicine.
Rest is medicine.
Lifestyle Is Medicine!
